The Quiet of San Joseph Bay
This piece is a capture from a recent hike in San Joseph Bay. I wanted to share an unsung perspective from a more well travelled area on Vancouver Island. Within this composition, I rehearsed my understanding of values to create depth within the coastal landscape. Throughout the painting are areas where the viewer can feel spacious, and then more detailed moments to draw them closer. Here, I am also continuing to practice my portrayal in the magic of clouds.

Untamed White Cliffs
Taken on a multi-day kayak expedition in the Broughton Archipelago -an area called 'The White Cliffs'. The initial photo was captured while lounging on a lookout, drinking a morning coffee. This group of islands feel like you are on the edge of the world. I aspired to capture the feeling of wildness through rich colour and bold brushstrokes. The majority of this painting was completed with larger brushes to create atmospheric texture and mood emphasizing a more abstract rendition.
